Keep it simple: It
is important that your domain name
remains as simple as possible. It
is not recommended to use hyphens,
numbers or other non-letters in the
name. If the name was provided on
the radio, would it need explanation
or clarification? It shouldn't.
Keep it relevant:
The most common domain name is
simply to use your business name.
For instance if your company name
was Chatham Chihuahuas you may
choose to www.chathamchihuahuas.com.
It is easy to remember because it is
the name of your business. You may
choose instead to have a domain name
that describes the essence of your
company, using important keywords.
For instance a site like this could
use the domain
www.webdesignchatham.com, because it
describes what we do.
Keep it short: If
possible, short is better. The
domain name www.ford.com is much
simpler and less prone to typing
errors than www.fordmotorcompany.com.
Use multiple domain names:
Some companies have multiple domain
names in order to better market
themselves on the net or to make
their sites easier to find. This
does not have to entail multiple
domain hosting charges.
